WhatsApp chat export to PDF

WhatsApp's export gives you _chat.txt and a pile of loose photos. Printing it gives you a wall of timestamps. Upload the .zip here and get a PDF laid out as a conversation, with the images where they were sent, or a searchable web page if you would rather scroll than page.

Your export

A WhatsApp export (.zip or _chat.txt), an .mbox, or a Slack export .zip.

How to get the export out of WhatsApp

  1. Open the chat.
  2. Tap the contact or group name at the top, scroll down, and choose Export chat.
  3. Choose Attach media if you want the photos in the archive. Without media you get the text only, which is smaller and still complete.
  4. Save it to Files or mail it to yourself, then upload the .zip above.

Both the bracketed format ([12/03/2026, 14:02:11] Sam: …) and the dashed one (12/03/2026, 14:02 - Sam: …) are read, and a message that runs over several lines stays one message.

If this is for a solicitor or a court

The PDF keeps every timestamp and sender exactly as WhatsApp wrote them, nothing reordered or summarised. Attachments WhatsApp left out of the export are marked as missing rather than silently dropped, so the gap is visible to whoever reads it.

Your chat is not kept

It is read to count the messages, held only until your archive is delivered, then deleted — within 24 hours if you never pay. No account is needed to buy one, and no account holds a copy for you to find later.

How this compares

$6 for the export you are converting, whether it is fifty messages or five years of them — priced per archive, not per page or per message, with nothing recurring and no account required.

Taken from their own pages on 2026-09-08.

What is genuinely different here

No account is required. Your export is deleted as soon as the archive is delivered, and within 24 hours if you never pay. An account is offered after your archive arrives; declining it changes nothing about the job you paid for. The desktop alternatives take a different route to the same privacy: they never upload anything, but they want a cable, a full-device backup and an install, at $30–40/year. Seeing the message count before paying is the floor for this category rather than a reason to pick us — the difference is that the count does not change the price.

Where they do more

ChatToPDF transcribes voice notes and this does not. Their $49 tier turns the audio in a WhatsApp export into text inside the document. Voice notes here are listed as attachments, not transcribed.
